Ideal Types of Office Décor for a Charity Funded Organization to Invest In

Office Décor photo

One of the most fiercely debated questions in charity funded organizations is the one as to whether they should invest in office décor. This is usually followed by a question as what the ideal type of office decorations for such charity-funded organizations would be (if, indeed, investing in office decorations turns out to be the right thing for them to do). Those are the questions we now venture to explore possible answers to. But we first of all need to understand why charity-funded organizations are unique in this context.

Why charity-funded organizations are unique:
There is one major reason as to why charity-funded organizations are unique in contexts like this. The reason is in the fact that these are organizations which operate without their own revenue sources. They depend on receiving money from well-disposed people, and then using that money to help people with various unique needs. Subsequently, they have to be very careful in their administrative expenditures and purchase of things like cars for staff and office décor items, like an office floor mat – lest they be perceived to be wasting donors’ funding, and possibly be sanctioned.

Whether it is right for a charity funded organization to invest in office décor:
Opinions vary on this, but many people are of the persuasion that well thought out office decorations can actually add value to charity-funded organizations. A charity funded organization with good office décor stands to benefit from:

Improved perceptions by external stakeholders: this would be the case, provided the office decorations bought are not perceived as extravagant. It emerges that if the external stakeholders (donors for instance) visit the organization’s premises, and they encounter bare offices with no décor whatsoever, they’d tend to get the impression that it is not a proper organization. There are things an office needs, if it is to look proper: and a certain level of décor is definitely one of them. Now improved perception is important for charity funded organizations because, for one, most people would be very hesitant to entrust their money to an organization which looks dubious from the appearance of its offices. But even where the people overcome that perception, they’d tend to perceive it as a ‘cheap’ organization, and therefore tend to give the smaller donations they henceforth believe it deserves, on account of its ‘cheapness.’

Success consciousness in the internal environment: this would tend to have an effect on the organization’s staff morale and general effectiveness in its central mission. It has been established (through well controlled research) that proper office décor can, for instance, improve performance by as much as 15 percent.

The ideal type of office décor for charity funded organizations:
The ideal type of office decoration for charity funded organizations would be that which looks decent, but inexpensive. The office décor items have to look decent, if they are to serve the intended purpose of inducing the necessary level of success consciousness in the organization, whilst also somewhat impressing external stakeholders who may come visiting. But it has to be inexpensive, if the organization is to avoid creating a wrong impression that it is squandering charitably received monies on unnecessary things, like costly office décor.

Coaching And The Role Of Teamwork Workshops

Coaching is a process that is often interchanged with mentoring and it enables an individual or company to achieve their full potential. These services are often paid for and they help the individual to make real and lasting change by motivating and changing their thought processes, allowing the individual to identify their needs, motivations, desires and skills. This often done through questioning techniques which allow the client to facilitate their own thought processes to find solutions. A coach or mentor will help the client to set appropriate goals and have methods in place which will assess their progress.

Teamwork is the heart and soul of any family, relationship whether personal or in a company. Having a motivated workforce can make the difference between meeting your company’s goals or failing. This is because it is the spirit of teamwork that brings creativity and life into any organization. After companies realized how important it is to the success of their company, many of them have taken the time and resources to invest in teamwork workshops. Every leader needs to build teamwork within their organization but many of them tend to ruin their efforts through a lack of awareness.

Team building workshops are designed to help form a new level of teamwork awareness in each member of your team. These workshops are designed to cater specifically to the needs of each organization that is right depending on your needs and situation. Teamwork workshops often involve team building exercises, interactive training and exercises, assessments, role play and facilitated group discussions.

Coaching can be tailored to meet your organizations needs to one hour or to a full day or over a weekend. Coaching is best done in a different context away from work to enable all the participants to be able to relax. The office is often filled with interpersonal conflicts and task based patterns that cause individual employees to lose sight of the value of teamwork which ends up de-motivating the whole team. This is the reason why teambuilding workshop should be held away from the office.

It is important to develop an ongoing teamwork workshop program. This is done by organizing regular team building workshops as new relationships are formed, team members get new insights into the value of teamwork and new levels of understanding and empathy are opened. There is a lot of fun and games but with a deeper purpose behind it. Each activity is debriefed afterwards in an interactive session where everything that happened during the experience is discussed and how it relates to teamwork in the workplace to ensure there is change.

Strategize Your Company’s Success Through the Balanced Scorecard

During the recession, many companies were forced to shut down or to lay-off some workers, and for some, allowed themselves to be “saved” by more stable companies. Starbucks is one example. Due to its rapid expansion over the years, Starbucks was not able to cope with the effects of the recession. It expanded so fast that it was able to open 900 stores in the United States alone, and probably a little bit more overseas. With the economy’s decline, Starbucks’s sales also declined. In the past years, many analysts and businessmen predicted that Starbucks will not survive the recession. Starbucks survived, nonetheless, despite all the negative readings they get from various people.

Companies nowadays have learned so much from the recession, some learned how to expand slowly, some learned how to use various management systems to further enhance their company’s performance. A management system is a framework of processes and ways used to ensure that an organization can fulfill the tasks required to achieve its goals. A complete system includes accountability and a schedule for various activities to be completed, as well as auditing tools to implement corrective actions in addition to scheduled activities, which mat create an upward spiral of improvement.

A balanced scorecard system is one example of a management system. It is a strategic planning ang management system used extensively by various business and industry, government, and nonprofit organizations to help align the organization’s activities to the vision and strategy of its administrators. The word “balanced scorecard” was coined in the early 90s, it originated from the works of Dr. Robert Kaplan and David Norton, as a performance measurement framework that added various strategies that can be used by different organizations worldwide. The balanced scorecard also helps in transforming an organization’s strategic planning from an attractive but passive document into the marching orders for the organization. It also provides a framework that provides performance measurements and in identifying the various weaknesses of the company. Subsequently, the balanced scorecard also helps to increase your profit.

There are various ways to increase your profit, one way is thru cutting cost. In this method one must learn to justify his expenditures and keep operating costs as low as possible. Another is to not to advertise too much, you can increase your profit this way because it will help minimize the expenses that the company has to incur in the long run. Lowering the price of the product may also help to increase your profit, for it will cut the costs of the production of the product.

In utilizing the various management systems, one can help in improving the quality and the services offered in ones company. By doing so, the company and its customers are in a win-win situation, wherein the company, can offer quality products or services at a lower cost, and at the same time makes the customer happy by its superb products and services.
