When I decided to start a catering business, I knew right away that event catering was the type of catering I wanted to do. While event catering definitely isn’t for everyone, it is the only catering that I would ever consider doing.
Stress is Best
I am the type of person that thrives under stress. There are few jobs more stressful than event catering, but that is ok with me! There are a million little details that need to come together just perfectly when I am catering an event like a wedding or a party. This can be really stressful. I don’t want a spoiled dinner to be a horrible wedding memory for a beautiful bride, and it is up to me to make sure that the meal goes off without a hitch. Because I perform best under pressure, I seldom have a problem with making sure that things turn out perfectly.
Organization is Key
One quality that a good caterer must have is organization. I like to think that being organized is one of my better traits. It is very important to stay organized because I need to keep track of all the little details. There are a lot of factors that play into organizing and catering an event, and if I was disorganized there is no way I could do it. I like to keep things in order, so the organization side of catering comes very easy to me.
I Love to Cook
Of course the primary reason I decided to become an event caterer is because I absolutely love to cook. Event catering really appealed to me because there is a lot of creativity involved. As an event caterer I can really showcase my talents by making a masterpiece meal. Most people who want a caterer for an event like the meal to be show-stopping. Event catering allows me to take the talent I have for cooking and put it on display for a multitude of people.
When I looked into starting a catering business, I knew there were several types of catering but I really felt that event catering was right for me. If none of these things appeal to you, there are still other ways to make money such as a home party business or a carpet cleaning business start up. I felt that my organization, ability to work under pressure, and my love of cooking made event catering the perfect choice for me.
